Bringing the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban jazz to the forefront, trumpeter, bandleader, and educator Steve Oquendo is a dynamic force on today’s Latin jazz scene. A graduate of New York’s renowned LaGuardia High School, he earned Outstanding Soloist honors at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Competition, where he was mentored by Wynton Marsalis and Jon Faddis. Founder of the acclaimed Steven Oquendo Latin Jazz Orchestra, he has performed with legends including Celia Cruz, Rubén Blades, and Eddie Palmieri.
