“Coming to Jazzmobile in New York City is what did it for me.” Those words capture the remarkable journey of saxophonist, flutist, composer, and bandleader T.K. Blue, whose artistry was shaped through Jazzmobile’s legendary Saturday workshops with Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster, Ernie Wilkins, Jimmy Owens, and the inspiration of Jazzmobile Founder, Dr. Billy Taylor. An internationally acclaimed leader with 15 recordings to his credit, including the celebrated Planet Bluu, Blue has created a distinctive body of work that bridges jazz, African, Latin, and Caribbean traditions. A longtime collaborator of NEA Jazz Masters Abdullah Ibrahim and Randy Weston, he continues to inspire audiences with music that celebrates culture, discovery, and the limitless spirit of jazz.
ANTONIO HART – JIMMY HEATH BIG BAND
With a soaring alto sound, masterful improvisation, and unmistakable lyricism, Grammy Award nominee Antonio Hart is one of today’s premier jazz saxophonists. A celebrated composer, bandleader, and educator, Hart was mentored by NEA Jazz Master and Jazzmobile Co-Founder Jimmy Heath and now proudly continues that legacy as musical director of the Jimmy Heath Big Band. A longtime Jazzmobile artist, he has been a featured performer at Summerfest and educational programs while appearing on more than 100 recordings and performing with the Dave Holland Big Band and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band. Every performance reflects his passion for honoring jazz tradition while inspiring its future.
